Job Description

MMP Consultancy currently have an opportunity for a Building Safety Manager to join a Housing Association based in Twickenham, Greater London. This will be a permanent position paying between £51,234 - £53,930p/a Benefits.

This role will involve no management of staff directly.

Overall Responsibility:

The safety of our customers, and therefore building safety, is our number one priority. This role will work across our diverse geography & portfolio to ensure we take a coherent and co-ordinated approach to building safety. This role will support the Safer Building Department by engaging with key internal and external stakeholders including 3rd party free holders and Managing Agents to support the organisation in ensuring that all fire safety legislative requirements are met, the safety of occupants is assured.

The Building Safety Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring we maintain safety in our HRBs, leading actions to reduce or mitigate risk, working with colleagues across the organisation. You will take all reasonable steps to prevent any building safety incidents and reduce the severity of an incident, should one occur. In addition, the role will be required to prepare regular progress reports for Department, Directorate. This is a key role in a new team and will help ensure the safety of our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To effectively and proactively manage a set number of high-rise residential buildings ensuring that there is a culture of high performance, strong engagement, systems working and a commitment to continual improvement.
  • Act as the named BSM for your assigned HRB's, liaising directly with the Building Safety Regulator and other key stakeholders, ensuring that all required requests for information and reoccurring reporting are always appropriately responded to ensuring compliance for my client.
  • Provide advice, guidance and clear information regarding buildings safety to all stakeholders internally and externally to help my client be the benchmark in the approach to building safety in the sector.
  • Lead and actively contribute on 'whole building safety' matters in all meetings internally and externally regarding your HRRB's to help with contribute to my clients approach to building safety.
  • Engage with the Development team through the design and construction phases/Gateways for all HRB's to ensure all HRB requirements are met in good time.
  • Ensure that new build certification is subject to required quality assurance procedures as the existing portfolio and is documented for regulation purposes.
  • Work with the internal teams to ensure that building safety data and information is accurate and stored in accordance with procedures.
  • Liaise with various departments where you have queries and close out issues, ensuring verification and validation interventions are documented on the system ensuring verification and validation interventions are documented on the system.
  • Spot trends share proposals and develop improvements into our systems and part of continuous improvement.
  • Engage with customers and users of the building to ensure that they have a voice in how we ensure that their homes are maintained safely, ensure all stakeholders are given the opportunity to assist in developing BSCs.
  • Have a strategic overview of all operational repairs, alterations and installations and confirm they are carried out within agreed timeframes and to the highest of standards ensuring that all works are recorded, and related documentation is available for review.
  • Be inquisitive and utilise your analytical skills and knowledge of building safety to anticipate and assess risks in a dynamic environment, ensuring these are displayed and managed effectively in building safety management systems.
  • Manage relationships with 3rd Party freeholders and Managing Agents to agree property responsibilities, ensure effective information sharing to allow the timely development of temporary assurance certificates and building safety cases.
  • Maintain excellent customer service in all areas of work.
  • Attend remedial proposal and remediation progress meeting to ensure that the project team deliver the outcomes to support BSMs, building safety cases and ultimately safer homes.
  • Manage a large number of deadlines in relating to a variety of cases at any one time

This will be an interim position paying £316.50 P/Day Umbrella on a 6-9 Month contract.

The role of Property Delivery Surveyor will include:
* Undertaking stock condition surveys and other property inspections in line with organisational policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and contract performance
* Project management of planned works
* Attending and contributing to on site meetings
* Coordinating and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring they are kept informed of progress by providing clear and precise updates

Skills and experiences:
